Water Management, Sustainability and Pollution: impacts and solutions benefiting environment and traditional communities in Brazil
The course took place from May 29 to July 21, 2023.
The main objective of the project was to provide an understanding of the environmental, social (welfare and economic) and technical impacts of water pollution and treatment in the state of São Paulo. Participants were invited to propose innovative solutions to improve the social impact of the water pollution situation in the region.
This project was be based on lectures, technical visits and fieldwork within a multidisciplinary approach.
The course was designed to be taught in five modules, providing students with a great immersion in Brazilian culture and society. It also provided the necessary perspective on the regional situation, giving a more grounded understanding of the importance of the technical aspects of the project and the responsibility that comes with STEM careers.
