Multifunctional Nanostructured Composites
Mackgraphe's focus in this area is the synthesis and functionalization of nanoparticles, mainly two-dimensional (M2D) materials that include various metals, graphene and its derivatives such as graphene oxide (GO), and their use in multifunctional nanostructured composites. These multifunctional materials have characteristics of a single material, meeting specific and distinct demands, such as high mechanical strength, thermal and electrical conductivity, biocompatibility, hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity, UV protection and/or excellent rheological properties. To achieve these characteristics, we insert nanoparticles and/or graphene (GO) in different types of matrices to achieve high dispersion and homogeneity, so that, once these challenges are overcome, these multifunctional composites meet different demands as high-performance polymeric materials for the automotive industry, aerospace, food packaging, foams, and/or in liquid systems used in coatings, inks and complex fluids in the petroleum and construction industry.
