Mackenzie International Week

Mackenzie Presbyterian University (MPU) held the 2nd International Week from September 19 to 23. The event offered the opportunity for students and professors of all levels (undergraduate and graduate) to learn about internationalization opportunities at the university. Various activities were offered, including lectures with partner institutions, panels to present works in collaboration with foreign professors, as well as international research.

The opening lecture was Intercultural Competence: What, Why, How?, given by Dr. Kris Acheson-Clair, responsible for the Purdue University’s Center for Intercultural Learning, Mentorship, Assessment, and Research (CILMAR). Dr. Kris Acheson-Clair highlighted how the ability to communicate and live among other cultures is important for anyone who wants to have an international academic education or build a global professional career. The professor discussed several ways to develop these characteristics and highlighted the qualities that mark the competencies, which are often analyzed by recruiters.

In addition to the representative of the Center for Intercultural Learning, Mentoring, Assessment and Research at Purdue University (CILMAR), representatives from the University of Missouri, Le'Ecole de Design-Nantes Atlantique, University of Windsor, York University/Schulich School of Business, Torrens University, Deakin University and Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST). Thank you to all of you who collaborate with our International Week and also to the partners who help our internationalization every day.

Recordings of the lectures are available here.
