Photonics and optoelectronics
Mackgraphe's focus in this area is on the application of light in communications and the generation and detection of optical signals at different frequencies, with an emphasis on the telecommunications, medicine, energy and security market segments. We aim to develop photonic and optoelectronic technologies that increase bandwidth and miniaturization of devices, while simultaneously reducing energy consumption and improving image quality and detection at different wavelengths. Our main technological challenges include manufacturing optical components on a large scale, integrating different materials into optoelectronic systems, increasing energy conversion efficiency and reducing optical losses. We also apply various nanomaterials such as metallic nanoparticles, graphene and GO as new opportunities in photonics and optoelectronics, mainly in the creation of nanometric devices and customized optical properties.
