In yet another event to prospect for partnerships in Innovation, the Mackenzie Institute for Research in Graphene and Nanotechnologies – Mackgraphe, received a visit from a research group from Faculdade Evangélica Mackenzie do Paraná – FEMPAR –, represented by three of its members, surgeons , Drs. Oswaldo Malafaia, Luiz Fernando Kubrusly and Fernando Issamu Tabus. The objective was to prepare the final details of two large R&D projects. These projects, which also have a partnership with the Escola de Engenharia Mackenzie, aim to build an artificial heart, with a structure that uses graphene nanocomposite, will be equipped with IoT technology, and constitutes an unprecedented project of great strategic importance in the healthcare area, especially for use by patients waiting for a transplant. The other R&D partnership project, called “intelligent dressings”, should generate innovation of great impact due to the relevance of its applicability in the recovery of burns, where the FEMPAR Hospital is a great reference.
The meeting therefore celebrated the technical-scientific partnership between the two Mackenzist institutions with different areas of action, but very convergent: a large hospital with relevant demands in innovation and an Institute of R&D in nanotechnologies. MackGraphe's partnership with FEMPAR is strategic for both institutions as it opens up an important “field of experimentation” for nanotechnologies in the health area, which also includes the development of biosensors, one of MackGraphe's market segments.
“The partnership in R&D, between our two Mackenzist institutions, promises many fruits in terms of innovations, as it will not only meet FEMPAR's demands, but also presents good market perspectives”, emphasized Dr. Benedito G. Aguiar Neto, General Director of MackGraphe.
